How I almost gave up on my dreams because of money
How I Almost Gave Up on My Dreams Because of Money
There was a time I nearly abandoned one of my biggest dreams—not because I lacked talent or passion, but because of money.
It started when I got an opportunity to attend a training program that could boost my career. I was so excited… until I saw the cost. My heart sank. The registration fee, transport, and materials were more than what I had in my account. I told myself, “Maybe it’s not meant for me. Maybe I should wait.”
For days, I carried that heavy feeling of defeat. I even considered giving up on the dream entirely. After all, how could I chase big goals when I could barely afford small ones?
The Turning Point
One night, while scrolling through my phone, I stumbled on a quote that said:
“If you wait until you have enough, you’ll never start.”
That hit me. I realized that my problem wasn’t really money—it was mindset. Instead of thinking about what I lacked, I needed to start with what I had.
So, I made a decision. I cut back on unnecessary spending for a month, borrowed some materials from friends instead of buying, and slowly saved up. It took effort, but eventually, I was able to pay for the training.
What I Learned
1. Excuses Are Easy, Action Is Hard
If I had given up that day, it wouldn’t have been because I couldn’t afford it—it would have been because I didn’t try hard enough.
2. Small Steps Still Move You Forward
I didn’t raise the money overnight. It came from small, consistent efforts. That taught me patience and discipline.
3. Investing in Yourself Pays Off
That training opened doors I never expected. It reminded me that money spent on growth is never wasted.
Final Thought
Money will always be a challenge, but it should never be the reason to give up on a dream. If you start where you are and use what you have, you’ll be surprised how far you can go.
